Charles Oliveira has recently come out and said, “let me fight Poirier”. He then claimed he is the guy to bring Khabib back. The issue with that is if you are in the division, why do you even care if somebody comes back?
The world of MMA is a cutthroat ruthless business, some pundits would say when a person like Khabib exits the stage, you do not get on your knees and bow and show respect. Instead congratulate them on their record and then inform then how lucky they are, they did not go up against you. Because when you are Charles Oliveira, who is going to give you the opportunity should Khabib come back?
His actions then led him to call out Dustin Poirier. Making the claim he can take on Dustin and beat him. However, these tactics of how, “You will kick someone’s ass”, these tactics you use when you have the contract signed. Let us say he can take on and beat Dustin, the fact is, he is not at the same level in terms of stock value. Connor McGregor for example, even though his not champion has a high value because of the pay per view he brings every time he fights. He is an asset to the UFC and therefore carries a lot of weight and his demands are more likely to be complied with then Oliveira’s.

Hypothetically, if it is true what he was saying, people generally in the world of combat sports chase the easy contenders. Where it will be a big draw and an easy fight, and you will receive the largest paycheck in front of the biggest audience. Charles Oliveira is not that well known compared to the adversaries he wants to duel with. Although he may be a good fighter, the fight game is not a realm of integrity and the sports rankings do not reflect reality.
However, if Charles sells himself as an easy fight, that will increase Dustin’s record, then this fight may happen. But begging for a fight, when you have no contract, and you are begging for something that the community does not want. You must find a way to trick the system.
