WHY IS DEMAGOGUERY SOUTH AFRICA’S ENEMY?
The extreme left or extreme right usually are entities hiding and screaming in the dark crevices of politics. And the centre is controlled by the sane minds in the middle steering the ship into safety. Nonetheless, the ANC after Nelson Mandela, slowly with time started to become a black supremacy party with hints of racism not consolidating on the peace post-apartheid South Africa brought. Instead encouraging race politics to maintain their power and ironically abandoning their status of liberators, well in their view they are liberators only to black South African’s (who were oppressed during apartheid).
But instead of unity and following examples of the likes Paul Kagame and how he has united Rwanda after its horrific genocide of 1994, the governing party has been adding wood to racial flames; pouring salt to sores not allowing healing.
The Zuma era was the peak of this, with his reign he birthed the demagogues of demagogues in the current South African scene, Julius Malema. Once he became toxic, he was ejected from ANC, like a troubled child kicked out of the house by his family, Malema went and created the EFF. A party with a significant number of seats in the South African parliament and the country’s third biggest party, one simply must go on twitter and have a look at the party’s tweets. Or it’s leaders’ tweets; its rampant with racism and is divisive to a country with so much potential.
We do not have to mention the controversies of Julius Malema or his party. They are well known, he brushes himself like communist, however racism is not in its tenet, instead what they resemble is an African Nazi party.
Politicians like this, have used people’s prejudice and desires to seek power and lead. Only to enrich themselves. Demagoguery like Eskom’s troubles is one of the country’s challenges today.
